Epilepsy Awareness & Buccal Midazolam

This course provides the underpinning kowledge of : Epilepsy Awareness, with administration of perscribed emergency medication for seizure management, the administration procedures, relevant policies and procedures, care planning and documentation and staff role and responsibilities. 

This course is normally delivered over 1/2 a day 3hrs, but can be comdined with a basic Life support (CPR/AED/Choking/Recovery position) learn Epilepsy and Seizure first aid in Chingford.

• Treatment Options
• Seizure Medication Care Plans
• Status Epilepticus
• What is SUDEP?
• First Aid 

Buccal Midazolam Training

• What is Midazolam
• Difference Between Epistatus & Buccolam
• Indications for the use of Midazolam
• Benefits of using Buccal Midazolam
• Recognising difficulties in administering and signs of Respiratory depression
• Identifying and using individual's Seizure Medication Care Plan, Storage, & safe disposal
• Duty of care/responsibility and Accountability
• practical demonstration when to seek medical help.
•   Awareness of potential for misuse.

Assessment process:

 Each Learner will complete a multiple choice question paper and practice midazolam  administrtion on each other(saline content) into the buccal region of the mouth, they will follow the step by step process as instructed throughout the training.
